E-E-A-T for your website content.

Before I being to explain what E-E-A-T is and why it’s important when writing your website content, we need to go back to the basics and understand what SEO is.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO’s job is to help search engines (like Google) understand what your website is about through your sites content.

SEO will promote your website through organic (ad free) search results depending on what the user is searching for.

Summary: it’s how your website is able to be found during Google searches.

Are people even using Google to search for things?

They sure are!

Search engines (like Google) are still large and in charge when it comes to how different generations are finding their information.

HubSpot did a survey on how different generations prefer to find answers to their online questions and as you can see, search engines are very much dominating and on top.

Why is this important to know?

It’s important because if you’re trying to reach a certain demographic or target audience, your website is going to be your best option to reach them; even more so with the help of SEO and incorporating E-E-A-T into your content.

Remember, the only goal search engines have is to provide users with the most relevant answers to their questions. In order to present those answers, search engines must know what your website is about. SEO helps provide that information to the search engines while the search engines provide your website to the user.

The quality of your content matters! So write with E-E-A-T in mind:

Expertise - you’re presenting yourself as a subject matter expert (you know your stuff!)

Experience - you have experience with the content you’re going to be writing about (you’ve worked in your field for a long time and/or have strong education behind it)

Authoritativeness - others see you as a source of authority (other websites are linking back to your website and vouching for what you say)

Trustworthiness - your website and content is credible and up-to-date

Whether you’re creating your website for the first time or re-designing your existing one, the words you put on your website matter!

As AI becomes more popular, it’s incredibility important to go over your content. AI isn’t able to form unique opinions on topics and can’t provide a level of personality within content like humans can.

So make sure you’re writing for humans and not for robots.

Don’t overcomplicate your website copy. It’s easy to get caught up in the ramblings and fancy language but when writing your website copy you should keep it short and simple. Remember that people have VERY SHORT attention spans and not everyone is going to know the fancy terminology like you do. No one wants to read large chunks of paragraphs to find what they’re looking for or Google the meaning of a word because they don’t understand what you said.

The more content you have, the higher chance you have of being found on Google BUT write with quality in mind. Shorter sentences over larger paragraphs will improve your website copy and your clients will appreciate it more.

Remember: people’s short attention spans.

Think of yourself as your exact ideal client when writing your website copy. How would you Google your problem and how would you want to find the answer?

It takes time to write clear, keyword rich website copy. If you need help with your website, don’t hesitate to reach out!
